
Seniors earn All-America Honors

Three Bearkat seniors each return home to Huntsville as NCAA Division I All-Americans after competing in this weekend's NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Danielle Demas finished seventh in the 100 meter hurdle finals Saturday evening to earn first team All-America honors. In Thursday's prelims, Demas ran a 12.97. The mark was both a school record and qualified Demas for the U.S. Olympic Trails. Her time Saturday was 17.10.
In the women's hammer throw, Ashley Jenkins was 12th with a toss of 200 feet, 10 inches to receive second team honors. Jenkins closes out her career holding each of the program's top five spots all-time in the event while claiming the Southland championship two straight years.
Elizabeth Lyssy took 23rd place in the javelin throw with a toss of 146 feet, 6 inches. She is a third team All-America honoree.
