Tickets for the 91st “Battle of the Piney Woods” football game on Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. are available online at www.gobearkats.com or at the SHSU Athletic Ticket Office at (936) 294-1729.
All three previous “Battle of the Piney Woods” luncheons have been huge successes. The events led in to the most successful SHSU-SFA matchups yet at NRG Stadium. Each of the last six games in Houston has attracted more than 25,000 fans with an all-time record a season ago of 26,990.
Sam Houston has won five straight games in the series, helped by three long punt returns – two for touchdowns – a season ago in a 34-28 Bearkat victory. The rivalry game stands behind only Texas-Baylor and TCU-SMU as the third longest current college football series in the state.
