Men's golfers 10th in season opening tournament

The Bearkat men's golf team currently stands in 10th place after the first day of play at the Sam Hall Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss. This is the season opening tournament for the Bearkats.
The Kats fired a two-round score of 581, trailing leader Louisiana-Monroe by 24 strokes in the 15-team event. The Kats opened the day with a 289, placing them 9th after the opening 18 holes. They followed with a 292.
Jake McCrory and Mason Weld lead for the Kats, both currently sitting at 1-over par, good for 17th place overall. Andrew Ertle (38th place, 5-over par) had the low round of the day for the Kats with a 68 and Weld followed with a 69.
Also playing this weekend for the Kats are Noah Steel (65th, 8-over), William Holcomb (65th, 8-over) and Dominick Gennuso (74th, 10-over).
The third and final round will be played Tuesday.
