FRISCO – Senior third baseman Tori Koerselman has been named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, per an announcement by league officials on Monday.
Despite a tough weekend for the Bearkats at Southeastern Louisiana, Koerselman was next to impossible for the Lions to handle in the three-game series. She hit safely in nine of her 10 at-bats and reached base safely in 11 of 12 plate appearances against the Lions.
She went 3-for-3 with a run scored, RBI and a walk in the series opener and followed that up with a 4-for-4 game in the Day 1 nightcap, driving in a pair. Koerselman then closed out the series going 2-for-3 with an RBI, walk and stolen base in the finale.
Koerselman currently ranks sixth in the Southland Conference with a .384 batting average for the season, including a .377 mark against Southland competition. She is also carrying a .448 on-base mark, which is seventh in the league and ranks in the top 10 in both hits (53) and stolen bases (14).
She and the rest of the Bearkats will close out the regular season and try to clinch a spot in next week's Southland Conference Tournament when they travel to Houston Baptist for a three-game series beginning Friday in Houston.
