MAGNOLIA, Texas – Currently tied for the lead, Hanna Alberto put together a score of 140 through two rounds as the Sam Houston State women's golf team holds the lead (580) on day one of the
The Kats kicked off their own invitational with a combined score of 295 in round one. Hanna Alberto paced the pack, shooting 71 while freshman Kenlie Barrett trailed closely in the opening round with 72. Tori Gatling scored 74 in the opening round followed by Jenna Phillips (77) and Kari Bush (82).
Alberto returned in round two with a team-low 69-stroke round that included four birdies. Barrett lowered her score by one stroke in the second round thanks to a pair of birdies and Gatling put together another 74-stroke effort.
Phillips greatly improved in round two and posted a score of 72.
Through two rounds, Sam Houston leads the field in par three and par four scoring. Sam Houston will resume action at the invitational tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.
