Golfers Sit 11th at Quail Valley Collegiate

VERO BEACH, Fla. – The Sam Houston State men's golf team sits 11th overall after shooting a combined 295 in the opening round of the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, Sunday afternoon at Quail Valley Golf Course.
Arkansas State leads the field after shooting a team score of 279 and North Florida follows closely behind with a score of 280. South Florida ranks third (283), Michigan State sits fourth (284) and Notre Dame occupies fifth place (286).
Senior Austen Christiansen is tied for 16th overall and led the Bearkats with a 71-stroke round. Following with a 73 on the card, William Holcomb is tied for 30th while Noah Steele (75) sits in a tie for 49th.
Freshmen Jack Randle and Grayson Blunt rounded out the Bearkats' efforts after shooting 76 and 77, respectively. The Bearkats tallied 13 birdies in the first round.
Action at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational picks back up tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.
