Kats remain in first at Tulane

After two days of competition, the women's bowlers are still on top of the field at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Invitational.
The Bearkats were 3-2 on Saturday and have a narrow 5-pin lead on SFA who surged on Day 2 of the event. The Kats will take on SFA in Sunday's elimination bracket play with the winner earning a trip to the championship round.
“We just couldn't get in to any sort of rhythm today due to our inconsistencies,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “We can't keep playing from behind because of self-inflicted battle wounds. The good thing is we're still the number one seed and have a chance to repeat but we have to show up and be confident from beginning to end.”
Bea Hernandez led the way for the Kats with a 186 average in her five games. She was the only Bearkat to bowl all five games. Her average placed her 17th overall in the individual standings.
The Kats opened the day with a win over Alabama State and then followed that up with a victory over Alabama A&M. After a loss to Alabama-Birmingham the Kats knocked off Texas Southern before falling to SFA in the final match of the day.
The high game of the day for the Bearkats was a 222 for Jaden Takayesu.
