After a rough two days at the Stormin' Ladyjack Invitational, the Sam Houston State bowlers closed with a 3-0 day on Sunday to finish 13th.
The three wins on Sunday put the Bearkats above .500 for the weekend, as they posted a 7-6 record in the three-day event at Copperfield Lanes in Houston.
“There was nothing we could do anymore about Friday and Saturday, so we just had to come out and take care of business today,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “We did today exactly what we needed to by winning the three matches in front of us.”
The Kats started out the day with a win in 7 games against Adelphia. After taking a 3-1 match lead, Sam Houston had to hold on for the win in the seventh game 206-179.
In the second round, Sam Houston made short work of Dequenne University, taking the match in five games after dropping the opener. The Kats then closed out the day with a win over Maryville in six games.
Sam Houston will be back in action in two weeks at the Hawk Invite in New Jersey.
