After another four-win day on the lanes, the Sam Houston bowling team has positioned itself for another tournament title. On Day 2 of the Music City Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt, the Kats went 4-1 and moved up two spots to No. 4 overall putting them in the championship bracket on Sunday.
“Despite the lanes being brutal during transition today the team did well with trusting our shots and filling frames which were at a premium today,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “We've shown up for two days and now we have to finish the weekend with some W's.”
In the final regular season tournament of the year, the Kats needed a strong performance, and through two days that's what they have gotten. They opened Saturday's action strong, posting a 1,065 against Saint Francis (PA), the third best game of the day. After a loss in the third match of the day, the Kats rallied off two straight victories and stand 8-2 in the tournament.
“The team has responded well to our challenges at hand this weekend and we're getting the quality wins we need,” Hagen said. “We've put ourselves in position to win a tournament title and that all you can ask for.”
Amber MacLeod led the way for the Kats with a 211 average, seventh best in the tournament. Madysen Keller is 12th overall with a 205 average.
Sam Houston will open Sunday's bracket play as the No. 4 seed taking on No. 3. Lincoln Memorial.
