Alberto dominates the field at HBU

Hanna Alberto continues her dominance on the golf course, claiming another individual title, taking the crown on Tuesday at the HBU Husky Intercollegiate at Blackhorse Golf Club.
Alberto, didn't just win, she dominated the field, winning by 8-strokes, claiming her third individual title of the year and seventh top-3 finish in eight events.
“Hanna continues to play at a very high level finishing first, first and second the three tournaments of the spring semester,” said coach Tommy Chain. “The women's golf team has never had an individual with a better start of the spring semester.”
After a rough opening round on Monday, the Kat put together another great round, but it wasn't enough to overtake the leaders, as Sam Houston finished third. On Tuesday the Bearkats shot a team score of 295, which was 6 shots better than any other round in the tournament. The Kats entered the day down by 21 strokes, ultimately losing by nine to Lamar and HBU.
“For the second tournament in a row the girls fought back on the final day and had the low score as a team beating the second best team score by 13 shots,” Chain said. “The girls played today with great focus and confidence in themselves.”
Jenna Phillips also made a surge up the leader board after a final round 68. She jumped from 25th to 6th overall by the end of the tournament.
“Jenna Phillips had a hole-in-one on round 2 and a 68 on the last day which matched the low score for the final day,” Chain said. “I believe we are improving with each event and am very positive about our chances in the final two events and then conference.”
