Alberto takes title at Texas State

Hanna Alberto has started the 2019 Spring golf season the same way she did 2018, with a tournament victory. The junior shot a 69 on Tuesday to take the title at the Texas State Invitational.
Alberto was among a group of four golfers to shoot a 69 on Tuesday, holding on to the top spot by just a stroke. She entered the day with a one-shot lead and held on to win her second title of the year. She was the only golfer to post a below-par score in all three rounds of the tournament.
Alberto started the day on the 8th hole and got hot midway through her round. She put together a string of four straight birdies from holes 14 to 17 and was 4-under for the day through 10 holes. She closed the day with four straight pars to hold on for the win.
As a team, the Kats finished the tournament in seventh, moving up one spot from Monday's 36-hole result. UTSA ran away with the team title, claiming the top spot by 20 shots. But the Kats were mixed up in a very competitive bunch neat the top of the 16-team field. Only four shots separated HBU in fourth and the Kats in 7th. The team score of 299 was the fourth-best round of the day.
Jenna Phillips also claimed a top-10 finish after 75 on Tuesday and was in a tie for seventh place. Phillips shot a tournament-low 67 on Monday to help her to her fourth top-10 finish of the season.
