It was another 4-1 day for the Bearkats at the Stormin Ladyjack Classic and the Kats will enter the final day of the tournament in second place.
All four wins were against top 25 competition after posting four top-10 wins on Friday.
“Today was a solid day overall with a slow start and a huge finish,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “After tough loss in the middle we were able to bounce back and toss a huge set.”
The Bearkats trail Nebraska by just 21 pins heading into the final traditional match on Sunday morning. They will take on No. 1 ranked McKendree before the championship brackets are set.
The Kats opened the day with a 28-pin win against No. 24 Adelphia and followed that with a 46-pin victory over No. 13 Wisconsin-Whitewater. After a loss to Louisiana Tech, the Kats bounced back with wins over No. 10 North Carolina A&T and No. 16 Central Missouri. In the win against A&T, the Kats' team score of 1,146 was one of their best outputs of the season.
“The lanes got brutal in the last set of the day and for us to do what we did shows the ladies had a lot of poise and trust when it mattered the most,” Hagen said. “We start the morning with a tough one against McKendree and then we have to continue to bowl well and see if we can win a title.”
Katelyn Dickerson led the way for the Bearkats with a 197 average and high game of 246. She currently stands in 14thplace individually. Bea Hernandez is 21stwith a 194 average.
