Fog cancels Kats' 10-3 lead over TCU

HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State Bearkats were in the midst of a nine-run second inning against No. 18 TCU before game officials deemed the game unplayable due to fog at Don Sanders Stadium on Wednesday night.
The inclement weather began to move in as the game started and worsened as the evening continued. Still, the Bearkat offense was on its game and in the midst of its biggest inning of the young season when the game was halted.
TCU had struck for a pair of runs in the first and added one more in the second, leading 3-1 before the Kats came to the plate. An RBI double by Eric Bohnert got the second inning going for SHSU and they were sending their 13th hitter to the plate at the time of the stoppage.
A TCU error helped extend the inning, but the Kats had already taken the lead on a two-run single by Riley McKnight and then extended it to a 6-3 lead on a two-run double by Colton Cowser off of Horned Frog starter Haylen Green.
Jordan Cannon delivered the inning's big blow, tripling to the center field wall in his second at-bat of the inning to score two more runs before eventually scoring on a wild pitch. A walk by Bohnert kept it going and Kyle Moos doubled him home one batter later off of TCU reliever Dalton Brown, the final play before play was stopped.
