HOUSTON — Hanna Alberto continued her hot streak on the golf course and in the process broke a couple of school records along the way.
Alberto shot a 75 on the final day of the HBU Husky Invitational to claim the individual title. It's her fourth title of the season which breaks the record for most wins in a season. It is also her seventh career championship which is also a new school record.
"Hanna played solid for 3 rounds," said coach Tommy Chain. "The windy conditions made the course play very hard and the scores were not low. She showed great patience being able to control her emotions and her swing under these conditions."
After bogies on three of the first seven holes, Alberto played even par the rest of the round to hold on for the one-shot victory.
"She has matured in her time here at Sam Houston mentally which allows her to stay calm and focused and in the end end up with another first place finish," Chain said. 4 times of the last six events she has accomplished this. It is rewarding to me to be able to watch her show such maturity on the course."
As a team, the Kats shot 37-over for the day and dropped to fourth in the team standings. They entered the day 1 shot off the lead but finished 21 back.
Jenna Phillips, who led the tournament after the first two rounds, finished in a tie for seventh place.
