Bowlers lead after Day 1

The Bearkat bowlers have picked up right where the left off in the fall, leading after the first day of action at the Northeast Invitational.

The Kats posted a perfect 5-0 mark on the day and have a 51 pin lead over second place McKendree.

"The pattern played very demanding given the surface is a little funky. We attacked it a lot differently than most and I'm glad it's worked out thus far," said head coach Brad Hagen. "We've gotten the competitive rust knocked off now so it's time to build on our intel from today and position ourselves for match play."

Among the five wins on Friday, two came against ranked opponents, knocking off No. 23 Monmouth by 79 pins and No. 24 Wilmington by 81 pins.Â

On Saturday they will bowl traditional game matches against No. 7 North Carolina A&T, St. Francis Brooklyn, No. 17 Fairleigh Dickinson, No. 21 Adelphi and No. 19 Sacred Heart. Sunday's bracket play will be best-of-seven baker matches.
