Kats fifth at Maryville tournament

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – The Sam Houston Bowlers will enter the final day of the Columbia Saints Invite in fifth place after posting a 7-2 record through the first two days of competition.

After a 3-1 record on Friday, the Kats followed that up with a 4-1 mark on Saturday including a win against No. 4 Nebraska. The second-ranked Kats will face Maryville in Sunday's best of seven bracket play.

Bea Hernandez led the Kats individually with a 208 average for her five games on Saturday including a high game of 234. She finished the day in 8^th out of 120 bowlers. Elise Chambers had the high game of the day for the Bearkats with a 257.

Two other Kats recorded top-20 finishes with Katelyn Dickerson 13^th with a 203 average and Hayley Connelly 18^th with a 197 average.

The Kats opened the day with a 16-pin win against Nebraska. After a loss to Drury, they finished strong with three straight wins against Lewis University, Spalding University and Kentucky Wesleyan.

On Friday they opened the tournament with a bye and then knocked off Maryville. After a loss to No. 1 ranked McKendree they closed with wins against Central Missouri and Upper Iowa.
