CUT AND SHOOT -- For the 10th time, and the first year at Time to Spare in Cut and Shoot, the Sam Houston bowlers are set to host the TRACK Kat Klash. This year's event will feature just five teams with a small number of NCAA programs currently competing.
"This year's event will be completely different than anything we have done before," said head coach Brad Hagen. "Many schools didn't know what the situation was going to be for this season until late in the game and we felt fortunate to be able to put this tournament together. We are happy to have a home event, and want to thank everyone at Time to Spare for helping make this happen."
The Field
No. 2 Vanderbilt
No. 5 Sam Houston State
No. 9 Louisiana Tech
Prairie View A&M
Texas Southern
Â
The Format:
8:15 - 1:45 Friday – Five Baker games
8:15 - 1:45 Saturday – Five person Traditional team games
Â
The tournament champion will be determined by total pins over the two days.Â
Â
The History
This is the 10th year of the Kat Klash. The first two years were held at Huntsville Lanes. Year three was held at Palace Lanes in Houston. The last six years were held at Emerald Lanes in Houston.
The Kats were the winners of the first two events. In 2013 Arkansas State took the team title while Nebraska won back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015. Sam Houston won in 2016 and Nebraska won in 2017. McKendree won their first Kat Klash title in 2018 and last season Nebraska claimed their fifth Kat Klash title.
The Venue
Time to Spare in Cut and Shoot will host it's first NCAA bowling event this weekend. It was scheduled to host the Southland Bowling League Championship in March, but the event was cancelled following the COVID19 shutdown of NCAA events. It is scheduled to be the site of the 2021 Southland Championship.Â
