Kats set school record in Arkansas

Bea Hernandez and Katelyn Dickerson both posted top six finishes as the Sam Houston bowling team moved up three spots in the overall standings on Saturday at the Mid Winter Invitational in Arkansas.

Hernandez is fourth overall after bowling a 218 average over five games on Saturday. She had a high of 269 with three games over 200. Dickerson was just behind her with a 216 average and high of 245. She toped the 200 mark four times.

Elise Chambers also checked in on the top 20 of the leaderboard with a 208 average. Her best game was a team-high 270.

The Kats bowled their best at the start of the day. In addition to Chambers' 270, all five bowlers topped the 200 mark as they bowled a school-record 1195.

As a team the Bearkats finished the day in seventh place and will face UAB in the first round of Sunday's best-of-7 bracket play.

They posted a 4-2 record on Saturday and are 6-4 for the tournament. They posted wins over Grambling, Alabama State, UAB, Lincoln Memorial.
