
Kats compete at Don Kirby Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Sam Houston State track and field team took to competition once again over the weekend, sending seven athletes to the Don Kirby Invitational.

Jo'Vaughn Martin continued to look strong, finishing second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.87 seconds. Bryan Henderson also turned in a time of 21.69, while also finishing 16th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.91 seconds.

Josh Smith also took part in the 200 meters, but had his best result in the 60-meter hurdles where he finished sixth with a time of 7.98 seconds in the finals.

Zachary Johnson picked up a third-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 15.13 meters, and also finished 14th in the long jump with a distance of 6.97 meters.

In the pole vault, Clayton Fritsch cleared 5.36 meters for a seventh-place finish, while Cobe Graham's 14.98 meters in the shot put was good for ninth.

The Kats will head back to Houston next weekend to take part in the Howie Ryan Invitational.
