Bearkats open season at No. 6 in poll

The Sam Houston Bearkats enter the 2021-22 season in a familiar position in the NTCA top 25 poll, squarely ranked in the top 10.

The Kats are the No. 6 team in the preseason poll as they start play on Friday in the first regular season tournament of the year at the Tulane Invitational.

The Bearkats finished the 2021 season ranked No. 7, after a loss to Youngstown State in the NCAA Regional Finals.

The Bearkats have been ranked in the top 25 in every poll since the program started competing in 2010. They have been ranked in the top 10 in every poll since the Feb 21, 2011.

This weekend's tournament, hosted by Tulane, will be the first of two trips to Harahan, La. and Colonial Bowling Lanes. The Bearkats will return in March for the Southland Bowling League Championships.
