Baseball, Softball announce protocols and procedures
2/1/2021 12:23:00 PM | Baseball, Softball
HUNTSVILLE – With baseball and softball seasons on the verge of beginning, Sam Houston released its COVID-19 protocols and ticketing procedures for each sport on Monday.
Â
Similar to other sports, there will be no walk-up ticket sales for either baseball or softball in 2021. All tickets, including student and faculty/staff tickets, must be purchased/reserved in advance either online, in person or over the phone by contacting the Bearkat Ticket Office at 936-294-1729.
Â
All ticket transactions must be completed by noon on gameday and fans should be aware that no single-game tickets will be available until 48 hours prior to each game, after player pass lists have been turned in to ticket officials.
Â
Fans should also be aware that there is a high probability there will not be any single-game tickets available, especially for high-demand games, due to reduced capacity limits.
Â
For all ticket and entry inquiries, contact the Bearkat Ticket Office at 936-294-1729.
Â
Official capacity for Don Sanders Stadium is being set at 387 while the Bearkat Softball Complex is at 114. Those numbers, in addition to game dates, times and protocols are subject to change.
Â
Fans are subject to all COVID-19 protocols at Sam Houston State University at each venue and are required to adhere to those guidelines while on campus and in attendance at games. Those guidelines include proper social distancing, sitting in assigned seats and the wearing of facial coverings at all times.
Additionally, fans should be aware that the capacity number at baseball includes 125 standing-room-only along the first-base line and patrons in that section are expected to police themselves and properly social distance as well as following all other COVID-19 protocols. Those who fail to adhere may be subject to removal from the venue and/or the closure of the SRO section for the remainder of the season.
Â
Due to ongoing construction at Mafrige Fieldhouse, fans are encouraged to park in the North Bowers Lot (beyond football scoreboard) and access the facilities by way of the stairs nearest the Bearkat Softball Complex.Â
Â
The West Bowers Lot will be open, but pedestrian access is not advised as the walkway to Don Sanders Stadium and the Bearkat Softball Complex will be inaccessible due to the construction. The parking lot at the Ron Randleman Strength & Conditioning Facility and Don Sanders Stadium will be accessible via permit only.
