Chambers, Blankenzee make all-tourney team

JONESBORO, Ark. - The Sam Houston bowlers place two on the all-tournament team in a 7th place finish at the Mid-Winter Invitational hosted by Arkansas State.
Elise Chambers finished second overall and Denise Blankenzee took fourth. Chambers' 6-game average of 229 missed the top spot by just 10 pins. Her high game was 246. Blankenzee averaged 225 for her six games with a high of 268.
The Kats finished the tournament with a 5-7 record. They entered Sunday's bracket round as the No. 6 overall seed.
In the best-of-7 match up against Wisconsin-Whitewater, the Kats fell in six games. They bounced back to take the 7thplace match against Tulane, winning the deciding game 259-170.
The five wins for the Kats included victories over McKendree and Arkansas State.
The Bearkats will now turn their attention to the Southland Conference Championship which will now take place in New Orleans.
