Jones, DeLozier lift Kats to 2OT win

CORPUS CHRISTI — The Sam Houston soccer team outlasted Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in double overtime to come away with a 1-0 victory Sunday at Dugan Stadium.

Sophomore Brooke Jones scored the golden goal in the 104th minute to secure the win for the Bearkats who improved to 3-4-1 on the season. Freshman Landri Townsend set Jones up with the opportunity to punch in the game winner to earn an assist.

Junior goalkeeper Abby DeLozier was on point for Sam Houston. She finished with eight save, two instances where point blank opportunities came in the box.

A&M-Corpus Christi had a good look at the net in the 35th minute, but DeLozier challenged the shot and was able to cover it. A similar situation came in the 76th minute on a pair of back-to-back shots which DeLozier covered as well.
