CONWAY, Ark. — The Sam Houston softball team once again could not get anything going offensively as UCA completed a three-game Southland Conference series sweep with a 5-1 victory Saturday at Farris Field.
The Bearkats (7-17, 4-5 SLC) only managed to score two runs in the series, the other coming in an 11-1 loss in the opener Friday.
Sam Houston got off to a good start in the first inning when senior
Megan McDonald singled to begin the game and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by freshman
Emily Telg. Freshman
Ellie Grill then ripped an RBI single to left field to make it 1-0.
The Bears (19-10, 7-2) answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. UCA add insurance runs in the third and fifth innings.
Sam Houston got a lead-off double by sophomore
Kyndal Kutac to begin the seventh, but the next three batters were retired in order.
Junior
Sheridan Fisher led the Kats with two hits, and senior
Brooke Malia also hit safely in the loss.
