NEW ORLEANS – The Sam Houston offense stayed hot, but the New Orleans offense was hotter on Saturday as the Privateers handed the Bearkats a 20-13 loss at Maestri Field.
The Kats (14-15, 10-9 SLC) got another big day from
Colton Cowser as he reached five times in six at-bats, scoring three times and driving in three, including hitting his 12
th home run of the season and third of the series.
Trent Touchet homered again and drove in four runs, while
Jack Rogers had three RBI and a pair of walks.
But the UNO (17-14, 12-7 SLC) offense scored nine times in the first inning and never let up, scoring multiple runs in five frames.
All nine Privateers who came to the plate had at least one hit with eight picking up at least one RBI.
Tanner Sembera got the start and was chased in the first inning, suffering his first loss of the seaon.
The Kats will try to even the series in the finale on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
