MONTGOMERY – The men's golf team shot an 8-under round on Tuesday at Walden on Lake Conroe, but it wasn't enough to overtake UTA as the Bearkats took second at the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational.Â
Â
With the help of a tournament best round of 66 from Luis Carrera, the Kats were able to take 7 strokes off their round 2 score.Â
Â
Jack Randle made a charge at the individual medalist honors, finishing second behind UTA's Alex Cox who was 6-under for the tournament with three eagles on Tuesday. Randle finished 4-under for the tournament, shooting a 70 on Tuesday. He had a run on the front nine where he recorded four birdies over a five-hole stretch
Â
Randle led a group of Bearkats that finished 2nd, 5th and 6th individually. Paul Chaplet shot an even par round of 72 to finish 5th and Carrera used his 66 to move up 18 spots to finish 6th.Â
Â
Carrera started his day with three bogies on his first six holes, but got things going on No. 7. A birdie at the par 4 holes started a stretch of four straight birdies and 8 over his next 10 holes.
Â
Ting-Wei Hsieh, who was playing as an individual for this tournament, also finished in a tie for 6th after a round of 69 on Tuesday. William Holcomb was 18th following a round of 72.
