COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M scored a walk-off run in the bottom of the sixth to hand the Sam Houston softball team an 8-0 loss at Davis Diamond on Wednesday.

The Bearkats (11-22) managed just two hits off Aggie starter Makinzy Herzog, who struck out a career-high 13 batters to improve to 10-2 on the season. Texas A&M moved to 27-11 this spring.

Sam Houston's two hits came in the third inning. Freshman Hannah Scheaffer led the frame off with a single up the middle, and sophomore Regan Dunn dropped down a bunt for another hit, but the Kats could not string anything else together in the inning.

Senior Megan McDonald, sophomore Kyndal Kutac and senior Kayte Martinez all reached safely by walking.

Texas A&M scored three runs in the first, two in the second and single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Sam Houston returns home to host Southeastern Louisiana in a three-game Southland Conference series beginning with a doubleheader at 4 p.m.
