BEAUMONT – For the second straight tournament, the Sam Houston women's golf team was runaway winners, taking the title at the Cardinal Challenge.
The Kats won by 23 strokes over second place ULM, and were 46 strokes better than their closest Southland counterparts Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
Jennifer Herbst posted her third round of even-par 72 for the tournament to take the individual title by three shots. She is the fourth different Bearkat to win an individual title this season.

th.
Herbst, a freshman from Perth Australia, was the model of consistency this week. In her three rounds of 72, she had three birdies each in rounds two and three and two birdies in round one. It's her fifth top 10 finish of the season following last week's runner up finish at Raven Nest.
She joins

Hanna Alberto and
Leah Alberto as tournament winners this season.
For the 48
th ranked Bearkats, this is the fourth team title of the season. This was their final tournament before this month's Southland Conference Championship starting on April 19.
