HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston men's basketball head coach Jason Hooten has added another post player to the roster for the 2021-22 season.
Giovanni Emejuru, a 6-10, 240-pound forward/center from Italy has signed with the Bearkats. He played high school hoops at Charnwood College in Loughborough, Leicestershire, England and will be a freshman in the fall.

"Gio has great size, strength and athleticism," Hooten said. "He has only been playing for four years or so but has shown tremendous upside in such a short period of time. He has a chance to be a very special player here at Sam Houston."

As a junior, Emejuru had the opportunity to play in the Euroleage Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Kaunas, Lithuania where he averaged 5.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game for U18 Barking Abbey. He was also selected to play in the 2020 Hoopsfix All-Star Classic, despite its cancellation due to the coronavirus pandemic.
