For the third straight season, the Sam Houston men's golf program will participate in the NCAA Regionals, getting sent to the Stillwater Regional in Oklahoma.
Â
The Bearkats will be the No. 8 seed, their highest in their five regional appearances, at the event taking place from May 17-19 at Karsten Creek Golf Club.
Â
"We are so excited to be able to have the chance to play in the postseason and play at Karsten Creek," said head coach Brandt Kieschnick. "This is a wonderful golf course that will be challenging. We are looking forward to it."
Â
The regional, hosted by Oklahoma State, is one of six 54-hole regional tournaments. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.
Â
Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 28-June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Arizona State and The Thunderbirds are the hosts for the 2021 championships.
Â
In 2019 the Bearkats participated in the Austin Regional, finishing 12th out of 14 teams. In 2018, the Kats took 11th out of 14 teams at the Norman Regional.Â
This season, the Bearkats won two team titles, winning at the Bayou City Intercollegiate host by Rice and the Southland Conference Championship.Â
