Cross country runs strong at Rice

HOUSTON — Andrew Bosquez finished in the top three to highlight competition for the Sam Houston men's and women's cross country teams at the Rice Invitational Friday evening.

Bosquez placed third on the men's 6,000-meter course with a time of 18:47.50, just behind George Wheeler of Lamar (18:43.30) and Dennis Kipngeno of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (18:47.30).

Rebeca Gonzalez was the women's top finisher. She placed 13^th on the 4,000-meter course with a time of 14:29.70.

Also on the women's side, Cryslan Tucker finished 18^th at 14:38.60, Ellie Galan was 28^th at 14:53.10, Sandy Clarkin placed 33^rd at 15:08.40, Haley Thomas was 37^th at 15:17.90 and Haley Garza was 58^th at 16:44.20.

Kyan Wallace placed 23^rd on the men's side with a mark of 19:59.10 followed by Eduardo Gutierrez in 26^th (20:05.60), Colton Stunkard in 29^th (20.13.40), Elijah McWilliams in 31^st (20:22.90), Mario Ruiz in 41^st (20:42.40), William Boyce in 45^th (20:51.00) and Austin Zirkel in 53^rd (21:11.40).
