Back at Elkins Lake, Kats lead by 6

HUNTSVILLE - The Sam Houston women's golf team shot rounds of 287 and 291 on the opening day of the Bearkat Invitational and lead fellow WAC member Grand Canyon by six strokes at 10-over for the tournament being held at Elkins Lake Country Club.

The Bearkats have three players in the top 10 individually, including Zulaikah Nasser who is tied for first at 3-under for tournament. She opened her day with a three-under 68 and followed with a 71.

Jennifer Herbst is in third, even for the day after rounds of 72 and 70. She closed out her round with a birdie on the final hole of the day to get under par for the round.

Anna Takahashi is in a tie for ninth. She shot 72 in the morning round, and followed with a 73 in the afternoon.

Leah Alberto is in a tie for 29th with rounds of 75 and 77 whole Audrey Haddad is in a tie for 37th, shooting 77 and 78.

Viera Permata Rosada, playing as an individual, shot a 71 in round 2 and moved up 8 spots on the leader board to 13th. Cari Denson, also playing as an individual is in 47th with rounds of 78 and 80.

The final round of the tournament will get started at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
