
Kats drop close match at UTSA

SAN ANTONIO — The Sam Houston tennis team came close to knocking off UTSA on the road Sunday in a 4-3 dual match loss at the UTSA Tennis Center.

The difference came down to the Roadrunners (1-3) winning the doubles point by picking up two wins at No. 1 and 2. The Bearkats (2-1) won three singles matches.

Sahithi Vutukuru cruised past Eva Beyebach 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Sunskrithi Damera picked up another point by rolling over Sophie Omoworare 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 as Sam Houston also took No. 6 singles by forfeit.

Isidora Zivkovic gave Alexandra Weir a hard-fought match, falling 7-6, 6-3 in the No. 3 position. Megan Basson fell at No. 1 singles to Aleksandra Zlatarova 6-2, 6-4, and Andjela Vidovic lost to Jasmin Starr 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2.

The Bearkats return to action Saturday against Texas A&M in College Station at 3 p.m.
