
Kats to compete at WAC cross country meet

HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston men's and women's cross country teams will run at the Western Athletic Conference Championships Saturday in Nacogdoches.
The league announced this week that the Bearkat men have been voted to finish ninth in the 13-team field while the women have been picked 12th. The races will be held at Pecan Acres Park with the men competing in the 8K and the women on a 6K course.
California Baptist was selected on both the men's and women's sides as the pre-championship favorites. The Lancers won the men's championship and finished as the team runner-up on the women's side in 2021.Â

Defending WAC women's champion Utah Valley was selected second in the pre-championship rankings, alongside the Wolverine men's team. Southern Utah, Grand Canyon and UT Arlington completed the other top five squads in the men's rankings. Southern Utah, Abilene Christian and New Mexico State were ranked third through fifth in the women's poll.
