HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston soccer coach Sonya Curvelo has added another signee to the 2023 recruiting class.
Naiya Singleton from Shadow Creek High School in Pearland has signed a letter of intent to play for the Bearkats next season. She is a two-time all-district first-team selection who plays striker for Shadow Creek.
"Naiya is a special player that will add speed, strength on and off the ball," Curvelo said. "She is dynamic and has the confidence to beat players one on one. She can create goal scoring opportunities for the team and score goals. She has a competitive mentality that works hard and wants to win Championships.
"She is also a great person and a great student. We look forward to having her with us and being part of building something special here at Sam Houston."
Singleton was the district Newcomer of the Year in 2019-20 and is also a two-time academic all-district selection. She was also a member of the South Regional Olympic Development team in 2019-20 and plays club for the Houston Dash 05 GA.
Singleton is also a standout in the classroom. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has been named to the Academic Honor Roll the past two years.
