Kats ink talented Seabrook golfer

HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston women's golf team continued to add to its stellar 2023 class with the signing of another one of Texas' top-ranked high school players.

Amelia Guo of Seabrook has signed a letter of intent to play for the Bearkats next season. She is ranked No. 15 in the state for the class of 2023.

"We are very excited for Amelia to join the Bearkat family," coach Jenna Young said. "Amelia is a very talented player that has had success at USGA and other prestigious events. She knows how to compete at a high-level and is very accurate tee to green with a strong short game. We are looking forward to having her on campus next fall."

Guo won the 2021 TJGT Barton Creek Holiday Classic with rounds of 68 and 69 and also captured the championship at the 2022 STPGA Challenge firing rounds of 73. She added to her impressive year by winning the 2022 STPGA Winter Showdown with rounds of 78 and 71 and placed second at the 2022 Legends Tour Jimmy Demaret Classic by shooting rounds of 78 and 72.

Guo placed 12th at AJGA C.T. Pan Junior Championships with rounds of 80, 75 and 79 and qualified for the prestigious 2022 PGA Junior Girls Championship.
