
Dove takes fifth at NCAA indoors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — KeAyla Dove turned in her best performance of the season on the biggest stage Saturday.

The Sam Houston sophomore placed fifth in the shot put at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex. She posted a mark of 57 feet, ¾ inch.

Dove came on strong to finish the indoor season. She qualified for the NCAA indoors last weekend at the OBU/GAC Last Chance meet in Wichita, Kansas. Her throw of 56 feet, 10 ¾ inches was the 11th-best mark in the country heading into the championships.

Jorinde Van Klinken from Arizona State won the women's shot put with a throw of 62 feet, 7 ¼ inches. Adelaide Aquilla of Ohio State was second (58 feet, 10 ¾ inches), Latavia Maines of Tennessee was third (58 feet, 3 inches) and Samantha Noennig of Arizona was fourth (57 feet, 3 ¾ inches).
