In the final tournament of the regular season, the Bearkat Bowlers got off to a great start. The Kats posted a 5-0 on the opening day of the Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt.
Â
In total pinfall, the No. 3 ranked Bearkats are in fifth place with a 202.9 average in their five matches on Friday.Â
Â
"Today overall was very solid and consistent outside of catching that brutal pair in the second set on the low end," said head coach Brad Hagen. "We know from low end, middle, to the high end can vary a lot depending on the time of day and with your crosses so we need to control what we can control."
Â
The Kats opened the day with a win over No. 6 Arkansas State, knocking off the Red Wolves by 90 pins. It was one of three games on the day the Bearkats topped 1,000 pins. The also picked up wins against Alabama State, No. 18 Wisconsin Whitewater, Carthage College and Tusculum University. Â
Â
Less than 100 pins separates second place SFA and the Bearkats. McKendree leads the field by just 129 pins. Â
Â
Action will continue Saturday as the Kats battle for a spot in the top four and a place in the championship bracket on Sunday. Â
