ARLINGTON — One swing proved to be the difference as the Sam Houston softball team dropped a 1-0 game to UT Arlington on Wednesday at Allan Saxe Field.
The Bearkats (10-24) managed three hits in the game and five total base runners but could not capitalize on any scoring opportunities. The Mavericks only had three hits as well, the difference was one was a solo home run in the fourth inning.
Regan Dunn had a solid day in the circle for Sam Houston despite taking the loss. She struck out three in five innings with her lone mistake being the home run.
The Bearkats had a couple of chances to get on the board.
Kylie Hobbs hit a double in the fourth, and she made it to second base in the seventh after she singled and
Emily Telg walked only to be stranded both times.
Sam Houston's other hit came off from
Hannah Scheaffer.
The Bearkats hit the road to play Stephen F. Austin in a doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday.
