HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston softball team opened WAC play with a doubleheader sweep of Lamar on Friday at the Bearkat Softball Complex.

Hannah Scheaffer got the Kats on the board with an RBI single in the first inning of game one. Elia Hebel launched a two-run home run in the second as Sam Houston broke open the game with an RBI double by Scheaffer and a grand slam by Brailey Wasik to make it 8-0.

Kylie Hobbs ripped the Bearkats' third home run of the game in the fourth, a two-run blast to left center.

Regan Dunn picked up the win in the circle to improve to 2-2 on the season. She allowed three hits in five innings with six strikeouts.
