Offensive woes cost Kats at SFA

NACOGDOCHES — Sam Houston couldn't string together enough offense in a pair of losses to Stephen F. Austin on Friday afternoon.

The Bearkats (10-26 overall, 4-7 WAC) dropped the first game 3-0 and fell in the second 3-2. The two teams will play the three-game series finale Saturday at noon.

Sam Houston rallied back to tie the second game in the seventh inning after falling behind 2-1. Kylie Hobbs doubled to begin the frame and a pair of walks loaded the bases.

Sheridan Fisher hit a single to left field to bring home the tying run, but the Kats left the bases loaded.

The Ladyjacks (17-16, 9-2) were able to score the game-winning run on a double and a fielding error in the bottom of the seventh to sweep the doubleheader.

Mika Vento went all seven innings in the circle. She allowed only one earned run.
Â
Regan Dunn pitched will in the series opener, only giving up three runs. Sam Houston, however, managed just two hits by Kylie Hobbs and Emily Telg.
