Kats still sit second at WAC Championships

KERRVILLE — The Sam Houston women's golf team still sits in second place after finishing day two of the WAC Championships at Riverhill Country Club on Tuesday.

The Bearkats are six strokes behind first-place New Mexico State after 36 holes of play. Sam Houston shot a team score of 302 on Tuesday for a total of 603 with 18 holes to play.

Anna Takahashi shaved two strokes off her opening round to move into a tie for sixth place. She shot a 73 Tuesday and sits at 4-over par 148 heading into Wednesday's final round.

Jennifer Herbst bounced back after shooting a 77 Monday. She turned in a 72 and is in eighth place at 5-over par 149.

Zulaikah Nasser was in fourth after day one with a 72 but struggled on Tuesday. She shot a 79 which dropped her into a tie for ninth at 7-over par.

Leah Alberto shot a 78 on Tuesday and is currently tied for 16^th at 11-over par 155. Viera Permata Rosada is tied for 30^th at 15-over par 159 after turning in an 80 Wednesday.

The tournament concludes Wednesday with the final 18 holes.
