BEAUMONT — The Sam Houston tennis team came up on the wrong end in a close 4-0 loss to New Mexico State in the semifinals of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center on Saturday.
Some of the singles matches could have easily gone in the Bearkats' favor, but the Aggies were able to get three straight wins after claiming the doubles point to seal the victory.

Megan Basson was leading Chloe Gavino 6-1, 5-7, 5-2 at No. 1 when the match ended.
Andjela Vidovic was also in a third set with Lisa Mingfang Zhu with both players having split the first two at 6-2.
Petra Kaszas was in a position to possibly pick up a point when the match was halted as well. She won the first set at No. 6 against Miranda Bishard 6-3 then lost 6-4.
New Mexico State got wins at Nos. 3, 4 and 5.
