HUNTSVILLE — Texas State used a four-run sixth inning to topple the Sam Houston softball team 7-4 at Bearkat Softball Complex on Thursday.
The Bearkats (10-28) pulled within a run in the fifth inning after falling behind 3-0 early.
Sheridan Fisher walked to open the frame, and
Kyndal Kutac laced a ball to short that led to an error. The first baseman misplayed the throw and Fisher was able to come around to score and Kutac made it all the way to third.
Kylie Hobbs cut the lead to 3-2 with a sacrifice fly to center field.
The Bobcats began to pull away with four runs in the sixth, but Sam Houston put together a rally in the seventh.
Fisher hit a lead-off double to right center field, and Kutac walked.
Elia Hebel followed with an RBI single to left, and
Jordan Peno walked to load the bases with one out.
Brailey Wasik made it 7-4 with a sacrifice fly to right to bring the game-tying run to the plate, but a groundout to the pitcher ended it.
The Bearkats return to WAC play with a doubleheader against Tarleton on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. and a single game Saturday at noon.
