Chadwick named WAC Hitter of the Week

DENVER – Sam Houston outfielder Clayton Chadwick has been named the WAC Hitter of the Week after a huge series in a 3-game sweep of Stephen F. Austin over the weekend.

Chadwick, a sophomore from La Vernia, went 6-for-9 with four walks in the Kats' first sweep of SFA since 2014, finishing with nine RBI and adding seven runs scored to his WAC-leading total.

He had a pair of homers in the series and twice drove in four runs, including a second-inning grand slam in the series finale on Sunday.

It is the first such honor for Chadwick and the fifth of the year for the Bearkats as he joins Carlos Contreras who has claimed the honor four times this season.

Chadwick currently leads the WAC with 60 runs scored and on-base percentage and also ranks in the top 10 in hits. He and the Kats currently hold a 3-game lead over Lamar and UTRGV with six games remaining in league play.

The Kats will close out the Don Sanders Cup series midweek series on Tuesday at Constellation Field in Sugar Land vs Houston before heading south for a key 3-game series at UTRGV beginning Friday night in Edinburg.
