
Women's golf adds transfer from Akron

The Sam Houston women's golf program has added a talented golfer to the roster for next season with the announcement of Jenn David to the squad.Â

David will transfer to Sam Houston from the University of Akron where she led the Zips' scoring efforts throughout the season with a 74.88 stroke average. She ranked fourth overall in the MAC for scoring.

"We are excited to have Jenn join our program this fall," said assistant coach Jenna Young. "She brings a lot of collegiate experience and has won numerous times at the collegiate level. We are looking forward to her helping us win championships."

David played in all 10 events for the Zips, nine stroke play events (25 rounds) and one match play event. She led the Zips in 7-of-10 events which included a 3-0 match play performance. David finished 6-of-9 stroke play events among the Top 11 players with four Top 5 performances, including a tournament win at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational. David carded back-to-back 1-over par 73 scores for a 146 (+2) tournament total to lead the Zips to their first tournament win.Â

She placed third overall at the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational (+6, 71-76-75 – 222) and fourth at the Colonel Classic (+5, 70-71-80 – 221). David earned a pair MAC Golfer of the Week honors after her tournament win and fourth-place showing.

At the 2022 MAC Championships, David paced Akron's scoring efforts with a 11-over par performance, finishing fifth overall. David recorded rounds of 76 (+4), 74 (+2) and 77 (+5) while leading Akron to a third-place finish. David was a member of the 2022 MAC All-Tournament team.

She was a second team All-MAC selection in in 2021 and has recorded two tournament victories with the Zips.
