Men's golf adds transfer from Colorado

For the third straight year the Sam Houston men's golf program has added a senior transfer, with the addition of Kristoffer Max from the University of Colorado.

Max, a native of Holte, Denmark, will have one season of eligibility for the Bearkats.

"We are excited to have Kristoffer join us," said head coach Brandt Kieschnick. "He brings a lot of experience and had a solid senior season at Colorado. We will utilize that experience to help us continue to play at a high level and l look forward to getting Kristoffer on campus to help us win championships."

This past season at Colorado, Max was second on the team with a 72.64 scoring average. His best finish was tied for 10th in Air Force's Miranda Invitational firing 74-74-73. He tied for 14th in the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate with rounds of 67-65-72—204 (-9) and tied for 17th at DU Paintbrush Invitational firing 74-76-75.

He had a career low round of 65 at Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate. Max had the best fall season of his career to date, averaging 71.75 for 12 rounds with three top 20 finishes.

In his career at Colorado, Max is one of 38 golfers to log more than 100 rounds in their career.

He graduated with a degree in Business (Finance) from Colorado in May 2022. Academically, Max earned Srixon/Cleveland All-America Scholar honors and was named to the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll as a sophomore with a 3.44 grade point average.

As a junior golfer, Max ranked as the No. 12 boys' golfer in the U18 (Under-18) category by EuropeanGolfRankings.com (out of 2,117 players). His notable Junior wins include the Skandia Junior Open firing 69-73-68—210 (3-under), and won the prestigious European Boys Team Championship carding 69-71—140, 9th in the German Boys event (69-72—141) and 13th in the Danish International Amateur Championships (78-72-73-72—295).

Max will look to continue the success of grad transfers to the men's program, joining Chad Sewell this past season and Paul Chaplet in 2020. Sewell was named the WAC Player of the year this past season and qualified for the NCAA Regionals as an individual. Chaplet was the individual medalist at the 2021 Southland Conference Championship and was th3 Co-Player of the year with teammate Will Holcomb.
