NEW ORLEANS — The Sam Houston women's golf team stands in eighth place out of 14 teams after day one of the Green Wave Fall Classic at the Bayou Oaks at City Park south course on Monday.

The Bearkats shot 5-over par 293 at the par 72, 6,158-yard course. Tulsa sits in first place with a 12-under 276, followed by Nebraska (278) and LSU (278), South Florida (282), host Tulane (288) and Seattle (288) and Central Arkansas (290).

Jenn David had Sam Houston's best round on Monday. She turned in a score of 1-under 71 with birdies on holes No. 7, 9 and 11 and currently sits tied for 15^th place.

Zulaikah Nasser is tied for 20^th after shooting an even par 72. She had birdies on holes 5 and 12, but bogeys on 1 and 11.

Leah Alberto finished the opening round tied for 49^th with a 3-over par 75 along with teammate Viera Permata Rosada. Jennifer Herbst is tied for 65th with a 77.
