SEATTLE – The Sam Houston Bearkats responded from a slow start to take the next three sets and knock out Seattle U, 3-1, on Thursday night at the Redhawk Center.
Catherine Krieger paced three Kats (5-12, 2-1 WAC) in double-figure kills with 19, leading SHSU to its first win in WAC play. That performance helped the Kats finish with its best offensive performance of the year, hitting. 354 for the match.
She was joined by
Madison Dyer with 14 kills and a pair of blocks, while
Alyssa Fielder continued her strong play of late with another double-double, totaling 12 kills and 13 digs.

Analise Lucio and
Avery Fowler directed the offense to its efficient match, led by Lucio's 31 assists. The back line was paced by libero
Hannah Baker's 15 digs.
The Kats held a late lead in Set 1 before the Redhawks finished strong to take the opening set. But from there, it was all Kats.
A 25-10 win in Set 2 set the tone for the rest of the way for a 25-21 win in Set 3 and a 25-19 win in Set 4.
The Kats will conclude their road trip on Saturday with a match at Utah Valley, starting at 2:00 p.m CT on ESPN+.
