HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with Houston Baptist in a hotly contested match that saw two yellow cards and a red by the Huskies at Pritchett Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Bearkats (0-3-1) struck first when
Landri Townsend sent a cross to the left side of the box and
Lexi Primacio sailed it over Huskie goalkeeper Chloe Bagshaw's head in the top middle of the net in the 17
th minute.
The first half remained scoreless, but after several opportunities, HBU was able to get the equalizer when Katie Marker took a pass from Ryan Ford and snuck it past goalkeeper
Savannah Hall in the 58
th minute.
Both teams had chances to take the lead, but Hall and Bagshaw made some nice plays in the net in the final 32 minutes. Hall finished with six saves and Bagshaw had three.
Townsend and
Kailey Pena accounted for Sam Houston's other two shots on goal.
The Bearkats return to action Tuesday when they host Louisiana Tech at 6:30 p.m.
